THE COMMUNE - NOV. 21st 2016
Director: Thomas Vinterberg
Cast: Trine Dyrholm, Ulrich Thomsen, Helene Reingaard Neumann, Martha Sofie Wallstrøm Hansen
Professionals Anna, Eric and 14-year-old daughter Freya inherit Eric’s huge family home. Unable to cover running costs of the expansive villa and reluctant to sell, they decide to create a commune in the upmarket area of 1970’s Copenhagen.
Together they build a new family of interesting like-minded idealists, friends and bohemians. What follows are house meetings, parties, dinners and the democratic running of an idealised living situation. However when Eric embarks on an affair with a student, it threatens to destroy the dream and the people at the heart of the commune. Anna, shaken by the affair, begins to lose everything including herself.
With humour and pathos, this hopeful drama explores the rewards and challenges of making dreams a reality.
